Cascade Knitting Yarn
What can I knit with 12 50g balls of Patons Cascade Double knitting yarn?
I bought 12 balls of this amazing greenish color yarn at a charity shop for jusy 4pounds. The packaging says it's double knit weight. It looks almost like French knitting; that is to say it's like a very finely tube knitted ribbon. Shiny and silky to the touch. 64% Viscose and 36% nylon. There are no suggestions for patterns on the labels (either inside or out).
What size needles would I use (maybe a 4mm)?? And just what would I make with it??
In addition, I have done some looking and it seems really difficult to find the actual yarn I bought. I went to the Patons page, but couldn't find anything that looks like it. I figured maybe the color was discontinued, but there's nothing with that name "Cascade" or that has the same texture.

I did a search on the patons web site for the yarn weight, and this is the suggested size. there are also free patterns on the site based on the yarn weight. even if you cannot find the exact yarn, you should find something based on the weight. i also suggest that you knit a swatch, just in case the gauge is not quite right.

Hand Knitting Yarn
How can I remove odor's from a wool hand knit item?
I am a knitter and started smoking again. To keep the smoke smell out of my yarn I keep most of it in zip lock bags in the refrigerator or freezer. Now the yarn has the smell of refrigerator or freezer. I know I can wash the washable yarn but what can I do with the wool yarn?
put it in the dryer on low heat with a dryer sheet

Silk Knitting Yarn
Wrap for my dreads....?
I need to get a silk hair wrap, or scarf to put my dreads in at night. I can knit... and was wondering if I were to make one myself using silk yarn, would that work out okay?
I've seen wraps, tams, etc. made with silk yarn so I was just wondering.
it'd be fine. I recommend doing a k2,p2 pattern to give it that extra stretch.
I also found Satin to be the best for my dreads. leaves no lint and really smoothes down the dreads and their fuzzies.
Wraps take a while getting used to so you can also try satin pillowcase.

Hemp Knitting Yarn
Have you knitted with hemp yarn?
I want to knit with some hemp yarn and i need to know which is the best. I want something that is soft and easy to work with. I want to knit a hoodie!
I've knitted with 100% hemp, but only to make belts and bags--things that I want to be rough and firm and non-stretchy. If you're set on a hemp hoodie, like other folks, I suggest a hemp/wool blend. Check out the Lana Knits (a yarn brand) web site to see what hemp and hemp blends are available. They have great stuff! If you're really curious about hemp, they even have a hemp yarn sampler for $25, which gives you a variety of hemp and hemp-blend yarns to play with.
I also agree with the folks who suggest bamboo yarn. I've made a sweater with Bam Boo by Classic Elite, and it's soft and silky and wonderful! This stuff feels a lot like rayon, but it's less icky if you sweat on it. Similar interesting, soft yarns on the market include soy fiber yarn, and even corn yarn!

Merino Wool Yarn
FELTING QUESTION-JoAnn's brand wool yarns - good felters?
Does anybody know how the JoAnn's Sensations Brand Tesoro yarn felts? It is a 100% wool, but I can't find anything about whether or not it's a good felting project yarn. I've used Paton Classic Merino before, and it does great, but it doesn't have the colors I want (pastels). Any ideas? I've got a Michaels and a Joann's nearby - and I wanted to make a purse for Easter. Thanks, guys!!!!
If it's 100% wool it should felt. Notice the word "should" . What I recommend is stitch a small sample and felt that and see what happens. If you don't get the results you want you didn't waste a whole lot of time, just the cost of one skein of yarn.

i want to knit a warm, soft scarf for my boyfriend but im a beginner.
looking at the material, which seems like a warmer softer yarn to choose?
i heard that wool is warmer than cotton, but i dont understand what merino wools mean.
and if anyone has any recommendation of specific brand for, soft, warm, and preferably thick yarns that you can buy online, please let me know. ty in advance

Sock Yarn Cotton
What should I do with this yarn?
I impulse bought some yarn for $.01 off of e-bay, and I'm quite pleased with my auction savvy, but now I have no idea what to do with it. The yarn in question is two skeins of machine washable royal blue 70% bamboo/30% cotton in fingering weight. I'm a fairly experienced knitter and crocheter, and I'd love a challenging pattern. I was thinking about making socks, but I'm worried that they won't keep their shape. Unless I find something, this lovely yarn is just going to become a bunch of dishrags. Help!
You don't say how much you have, yards-wise....
But I'd make a fall/spring cowl with it, so you wouldn't need to worry so much about shape, and the feel of the bamboo near your face would be heavenly.
